Heather Wilson, New Mexico Congresswoman is an Idiot
Watching Hardball on Thursday, July 24, Heather Wilson, a Republican from New Mexico kept bringing up the Brits as the example of Europe…
There are over 40 countries in Europe! Now while it may be a little difficult to get an exact number (Aneki lists 45, Wikipedia has a 47 number, Mahalo defines it at about 50, due to the border with Russia.) I think we can all agree that there are more countries/nations in Europe than just the United Kingdom.
Unfortunately nobody told that to the Congresswomen. Here is part of the transcript from the show; it starts a little bit, at least she mentions that there are at least other countries in Europe.
MATTHEWS: Are you saying that the United States has had a good relationship with Europe in the last seven years?
WILSON: Absolutely, yes. The U.S. relationship with NATO, with the U.K. Our relationship with the United Kingdom has never been closer, and that‘s been spurred by common mutual interests. I used to serve at NATO when there were 16 NATO countries and we were facing the former Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact. We had very close relationships with our Western European allies, and I think that continues with Angela Merkel or with President Sarkozy or with the Brits—I think very close relationships.
OK here is where she starts to ignore the fact that Europe is made up of more countries than the United Kingdom.
MATTHEWS: Let me ask you, Congresswoman, about the attitude of President Bush toward Europe. [...]
WILSON: The U.S. relationship with France has always been something of a, you know, allies of a kind. And that‘s existed for close to 40 years, Chris.
I think that our—our relationship with our Western Europe allies and with the Brits—I mean, look at intelligence cooperation. Our intelligence cooperation with the British post 9/11 is closer than it has ever been in American history.
What about all those other countries in Europe? Just because we don’t always get get along or agree with the French isn’t a reason to ignore the fact that they are a country.
MATTHEWS: But the French, the Germans, and so many other countries in Europe did not support our war in Iraq.
WILSON: We have British troops with us in Iraq. There‘s no question that there were differences on policy. But to say that, somehow, there‘s a wall in NATO that‘s running somewhere down the Atlantic shows Senator Obama‘s inexperience when it comes to understanding where we are.
Where did she address France or Germany? She didn’t, because she doesn’t know it.
Heather Wilson is an idiot who lacks the basic knowledge of the simple fact that Europe contains more countries than just the United Kingdom. It’s a shame that people will reelect her again…

True story told by a travel agent who does a lot of bookings for Senators and Congressional Representatives:
A New Mexico Congresswoman called to make reservations, ‘I want to go from Chicago to Rhino, New York .’ I was at a loss for words. Finally, I said, ‘Are you sure that’s the name of the town?’ ‘Yes, what flights do you have?’ replied the lady. After some searching, I came back with, ‘I’m sorry, ma’am, I’ve looked up every airport code in the country and can’t find a Rhino anywhere.’ The lady retorted, ‘Oh, don’t be silly! Everyone knows where it is. Check your map!’ So I scoured a map of the state of New York and finally offered, ‘You don’t mean Buffalo , do you?’ The reply? ‘Whatever! I knew it was a big animal.’
Now the only New Mexico Congresswoman I know of is Wilson and she has been in Congress for ten years while the other tow districts have been held by men for 10 years or more so this story has to be about her!
Now that is true stupidity. They make fun of Sarah Palin for saying she can see Russia from Alaska (which you can do) but you don’t hear a word about cretins like this or the senior Vermont Congressman (I assume this would be Bernie Sanders, who is now one of Vermont’s Senators, since he was Dem Congressman for VT for many years before being replaced by current Rep Peter Welch 2 years ago) who called, furious about a Florida package the same travel agent did. She asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. She tried to explain that’s not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, ‘Don’t lie to me. I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state!’
Or the wife of another lawmaker who called this travel agent and wanted to know if she could see England from Canada. When told no, she said they look so close on the map!So there are no end to the morons and idiots that are in the US House and Senate. Heather Wilson fits right in with them.
